A last-minute security alert and mobilization were triggered Saturday afternoon, December 20, following an armed attack inside a seafood restaurant in the city of Colima. The incident sparked panic among diners and employees, leaving one man dead and two others injured, and prompted a large police operation in the area.
According to initial official reports, the attack occurred around 7:00 p.m. when three armed men entered the restaurant “El Güero Zarandeado,” located in the Puertas del Sol neighborhood. Without saying a word, the assailants opened fire on the customers inside.
One diner died instantly, while two of his companions were wounded by gunfire. Paramedics arrived at the scene to provide emergency care and transported the injured to a nearby hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition under police protection.
Following the armed attack, a Code Red alert was activated at various points in the city of Colima. Personnel from the Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard, the State Police, and the Municipal Police cordoned off the area, located on Avenida Constitución, a few meters from the Third Ring Road, to facilitate emergency operations and prevent risks to the public.
Despite the intense security deployment and patrols conducted on foot in surrounding neighborhoods, no arrests have been reported so far in connection with this armed attack in Colima.
Personnel from the Colima State Attorney General’s Office took control of the scene to collect ballistic evidence, compile the case file, and determine the motive for the attack. The victim’s body was transported by the Forensic Medical Service for the required legal examinations.
Authorities recommended avoiding the area for several hours afterward, as forensic work continued. This incident kept the public on alert because it occurred in a high-traffic commercial area.
