After being hospitalized for more than 48 hours, a man died from injuries sustained in a rollover accident on the Parral-Durango highway, ministerial authorities reported.
The deceased was identified as Jaime Hernández Mijares, 34, who was admitted to General Hospital 450 around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, after being transported by emergency services.
According to the initial medical report, the patient presented with moderate head trauma, chest trauma, and rib fractures. He was admitted to the trauma unit to receive specialized care due to the severity of his condition.
Personnel from the Durango State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the admission of the injured man, who resided in the municipality of San Juan del Río, Durango.
According to a family member, the accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the last day of 2025, when Jaime Hernández was driving on the Parral-Durango highway toward Casa Blanca.
During this stretch of road, while taking a curve, the driver lost control of his vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, causing it to leave the road and overturn. Further details about the circumstances of the accident are not available.
Bystanders requested assistance from the Mexican Red Cross, Durango branch, whose paramedics provided pre-hospital care to the injured man and urgently transported him to the state capital for medical treatment.
Finally, around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2026, Jaime Hernández Mijares was pronounced dead. The Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified of the death and initiated the corresponding investigation.
