A group of people demonstrated at the new U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to condemn the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by U.S. military personnel.

“We repudiate the Yankee bombing and kidnapping of Maduro. Enough of imperialist aggression and plunder of Latin America. Stop the war against Venezuela,” the demonstrators declared this morning.

With signs and slogans, they also condemned the attacks on various parts of Venezuela by the United States. President Donald Trump accuses Nicolás Maduro of heading a vast drug trafficking network, something the Venezuelan president denies, saying that Washington wants to overthrow him to seize the country’s oil reserves, the largest in the world.

Since early Saturday morning, groups and activists have been issuing calls to protest at 10:00 AM in the Miguel Hidalgo borough of Mexico City against President Donald Trump’s actions against Venezuela.

Two hours into the demonstration, human rights activists continue their rally in front of the new U.S. Embassy to condemn the “imperialist attacks” on Latin American countries. Waving Venezuelan flags, they denounce the United States as a “cancer” for the world and demand an end to its intervention.

“Beware, beware, beware, Bolívar’s sword marches through Latin America,” they chant in unison, in the presence of dozens of security personnel guarding the diplomatic compound.

In an interview with this publication, activist Patricia stated that Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum must strongly condemn the actions of the Donald Trump administration, which has repeatedly threatened to intervene in Mexico to eliminate drug cartels in the country.

“This affects Mexico because after Venezuela, it could be our country next. These imperialist practices can be applied to vulnerable countries. We are demonstrating to demand an end to the war and the intervention. We condemn this fascism and demand freedom for the people,” he said.

During the protest, supporters of Nicolás Maduro held signs with the phrases: “Long live the Venezuelan people,” “Imperialist aggression must be defeated,” “Trump is a terrorist, Yankees are Zionists,” and “Yankee imperialists: tough luck in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Protesters of all ages, but mainly young people, also raised their voices for the people of Palestine, where, they asserted, the United States practices its military tactics to oppress other nations. They also spoke out against the alleged oil plundering that Donald Trump will carry out upon taking office in Venezuela.

Later, from the new US Embassy, a group of young people demonstrated against the capture of Nicolás Maduro and then headed towards the Venezuelan Embassy.
