The Mexican Navy, through its Secretariat of the Navy, reports that in two separate operations to uphold the rule of law, seven suspected lawbreakers were arrested and a clandestine laboratory and warehouse, allegedly used for the production of synthetic drugs in the state of Sinaloa, were seized in recent days.
The seven suspected lawbreakers arrested are members of a criminal cell known as “Los Rugrats,” part of the “Los Chapitos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Journalist Carlos Castro was murdered in Poza Rica, Veracruz. The National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) urges the public to reinforce self-protection measures in anticipation of rain.
In the first operation, naval personnel located and neutralized a clandestine methamphetamine production laboratory near the town of Los Cedritos, Cosalá, Sinaloa.
In this context, approximately 500 liters of a product in the cooking process and various liquid and solid precursors were seized and destroyed, including approximately 200 liters of toluene, 200 liters of benzyl alcohol, 180 kilograms of caustic soda, and 15 kilograms of tartaric acid, among others.
In a second operation, in inter-institutional coordination, naval personnel located and secured a synthetic drug storage facility near the town of Las Tranquitas, Culiacán, Sinaloa, where seven suspected lawbreakers were arrested.
Additionally, approximately 1,000 kilograms of a finished product with characteristics similar to methamphetamine, approximately 12 kilograms of a dried product with characteristics similar to methamphetamine, various chemical precursors, vehicles, weapons, magazines, and cartridges of different calibers were seized.
It should be noted that both the laboratory and the warehouse had extensive operating areas, materials, and equipment for the production of synthetic drugs. These facilities were completely disabled to prevent their reuse.
The detainees, who were read their rights, and the seized items were turned over to the appropriate authorities for the preparation of the corresponding investigation files.
These arrests and seizures represent a significant blow to the logistical structures of organized crime, preventing these illicit substances from reaching the streets and contributing to the safety of Mexican families.
