Governor Samuel García highlights that 2025 was the best year in the last 15 years for reducing high-impact crimes thanks to coordination and the massive investment in security.
This Wednesday, Governor Samuel Alejandro García Sepúlveda reopened the meetings of the Security Roundtable for Peacebuilding.
Leading the roundtable, the governor emphasized that 2025 was a great year in terms of security, achieving a 54% reduction in high-impact crimes. These results allowed Nuevo León to move from 5th to 15th place nationally, thanks to this downward trend.
“This is the best year in the last 15 for reduction, even surpassing 2011, which saw a 51% reduction. 2025 was the best year in the last 15 years, and we will continue working very hard, in close coordination, continuing the strategy that has undoubtedly worked, and making some adjustments for improvement,” García Sepúlveda stated.
The governor emphasized that with the arrival of the FIFA World Cup this year, they will maintain their security strategy to guarantee the safety of citizens and the tourism expected for the football tournament.
“The World Cup is coming in 2026, and we have to guarantee public safety, continue protecting Nuevo León, and keep climbing in the rankings,” he stated.
“We will continue working to guarantee peace, tranquility, and ensure that Nuevo León remains number one in everything,” the governor concluded.

García Sepúlveda congratulated the members of the security committee for ending the year with a daily average of 1.4 homicides, representing a 75% reduction compared to the peak recorded in May and June of 2024, when the daily average reached 5.6 homicides. He also highlighted that December closed as the month with the fewest homicides of 2025, registering 43 incidents. This meant that 2025 ended with the following figures:
724 intentional homicides, 53% fewer than the 1,539 homicides recorded in 2024. December 2025 saw a reduction in robberies across its four main categories: 26% compared to 2024, accumulating an overall reduction of 14% for the year.
Samuel García attributed these positive results to the investment of more than 30 billion pesos in security during this six-year term, and to greater coordination through the Peacebuilding Roundtable, which includes, in addition to Fuerza Civil, the Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the National Guard, the Ministry of Defense, the National Intelligence Center, the Attorney General’s Office, the State Attorney General’s Office, the State Investigation Agency, and municipal public security agencies.
