Tamaulipas continues to solidify its position as a leading tourist destination, registering over 16,679,295 visitors by the end of 2025—a record number in the state’s history, highlighted Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism.

Breaking down the figures from the State System for Tourism Influx, he noted that this number of visitors represents a 17.5% increase compared to 2024, which also translates into an economic impact exceeding 15.334 billion pesos, boosting local development, benefiting thousands of Tamaulipas families, and showcasing the state’s natural wealth.

He stated that, thanks to the drive, management, and promotion of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, Tamaulipas continues to establish itself as a jewel of tourism in all its forms.

“Among the most visited attractions are the iconic Miramar Beach in Ciudad Madero; the charming port of Tampico; the Magical Town of Tula, with its rich tradition of Tamaulipas leather jackets and Tultecan enchiladas; and the monumental Virgin of Mercy in El Chorrito, a municipality in Hidalgo, a new symbol of religious tourism that attracts pilgrims from all over northeastern Mexico,” he noted.

With these results, Tamaulipas reaffirms its position as a state that has it all: beaches, nature, culture, sports, and spirituality. “We invite you to discover why Tamaulipas is sure to win you over,” the state official said.

He concluded that in 2026, the port of Tampico will host the National Magical Towns Fair, which means “we will have in the state not only the presence of the 177 Magical Towns of the country, but also the visit of potential buyers from Mexico and abroad.”
