A woman, an employee at a clothing store in the Historic Center of Oaxaca de Juárez, was stabbed to death by a man. Preliminary public safety reports indicate that the young woman resisted a robbery attempt.

The store is located on Trujano Street, just a few blocks from the municipal government building and the municipal police headquarters of the state capital.

Security camera footage from the store shows a man wearing a black sweatshirt and carrying a bag leaving the premises. Information released so far indicates that the woman was stabbed at least eight times with a sharp weapon, leaving her critically injured.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, the young woman had already died. State Police officers cordoned off the area so that agents from the State Investigation Agency could conduct their initial investigation.

In a statement, the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) confirmed that it has fully identified the person responsible for the murder of the young woman, which occurred in a store on Trujano Street in the Historic Center of Oaxaca City.

The FGEO reported that it has videos and images of the individual identified as responsible for these acts. Initial investigative work has established that this person has a criminal record for involvement in other crimes.

“According to the initial investigation, the events occurred on the morning of Wednesday, January 14, 2026, when the victim was inside a commercial establishment. Following the report, the FGEO, through the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for the Central Valleys, deployed a multidisciplinary team to carry out the corresponding procedures,” the statement said.
