With a strategic vision that positions Sonora at the forefront of economic growth, boosted by the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño presented the state’s competitive advantages to international business leaders in Dallas, Texas, with the goal of attracting new investments and consolidating Sonora as a hub for technological, industrial, and sustainable development. During the meetings, which included investors who had previously toured the state to learn about the project, the governor explained that Sonora has positioned itself as a key player in the North American energy transition, offering solid conditions for investment in electromobility, semiconductors, and clean energy generation, with results already reflected in employment, economic growth, and business confidence.

The governor highlighted that the Sonora Plan demonstrates tangible, high-impact progress, such as the $16 billion investment in the Puerto Libertad liquefaction plant, which generates more than 30,000 jobs, and the construction of the largest photovoltaic park in Latin America in Puerto Peñasco, with an investment of $1.6 billion. This is complemented by the promotion of specialized human talent through scholarships, programs at the Semiconductor Design Center, and academic exchange programs with Taiwan, supported by the federal government, as well as the modernization of the Port of Guaymas and the secure corridor, which strengthen the state’s logistical competitiveness. These actions, he emphasized, are part of an international promotional agenda that consolidates Sonora as a global leader in clean energy, innovation, and sustainable development, ushering in a new era of growth and well-being for its people.
