Vaccination in Durango, below target

4

The winter vaccination program in Durango is progressing below schedule, both for the influenza and COVID-19 vaccines, according to state health officials.

During the first mass vaccination campaign, held last December at the same location, 3,760 doses were administered, exceeding the initial goal of 2,500. The current campaign aims to surpass that target again.

Alicia Esparza Aldaba, head of the Universal Vaccination Program, reported that since the campaign began in October, approximately 350,000 influenza doses have been administered, out of a planned goal of 500,000, representing 70 percent of the target.

However, she explained that at least 80 percent should be reached by this time, meaning the program is slightly behind schedule. He expressed confidence that this large-scale vaccination campaign, along with others planned for the coming weeks, would help them reach their target.

Regarding COVID-19 vaccinations, he explained that the goal for the entire winter season is 60,000 doses; however, so far only about 30,000 have been administered, representing 50 percent of the target.
