The U.S. military’s surveillance and intelligence overflight off the coast of Yucatán and Campeche continued Wednesday morning, January 21.

As we previously reported, the mission of the U.S. Navy’s Boeing P-8 Poseidon began before midnight on Tuesday, January 20, and continued into the early hours of Wednesday morning. The overflight departed from Florida and circled over the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Yucatán and Campeche.

According to Luis Alberto Noh Miranda, a professor of Environmental Engineering at El Tiempo in Yucatán, the Poseidon is a maritime surveillance aircraft developed for security and defense.
