In the lead-up to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s visit to Tamaulipas, several significant projects are transforming the region’s infrastructure.
Description: This project, through which 70,000 tractor-trailers and 240,000 passenger vehicles pass daily, has generated 1,149 direct and 3,446 indirect jobs.
Features: It includes administrative and sports facilities, a bank branch, medical services, commercial spaces, and a residential area with 621 homes for staff.
Arroyo El Sauz-Nuevo Laredo Section of the Gulf of Mexico Train
Description: This 136.48-kilometer single-track section will feature 52 railway bridges, 42 vehicular overpasses, and 108 drainage structures, in addition to two low-demand stations in Lampazos de Naranjo and Anáhuac, and a passenger station in Nuevo Laredo.
Guadalupe Victoria Aqueduct:
Description: The second line of the aqueduct, 54 kilometers long, is under construction, connecting the Vicente Guerrero Dam to Ciudad Victoria.
Investment: 1.8 billion pesos have been allocated, benefiting more than 350,000 residents.
Project Status: Under construction, with projected completion in 2027.
Benefits: It will provide 750 liters of water per second, guaranteeing the supply to the population.
Projected Projections: It is estimated that approximately 400 hydraulic works will be carried out in Tamaulipas, executed in collaboration between the federal, state, and municipal governments.
Objective: To improve water infrastructure, ensuring access to drinking water and adequate drainage systems.
Total Investment: More than 8 billion pesos will be allocated to various water works through 2027, seeking to improve the water situation in Tamaulipas.
The president’s visit comes amid a wave of federal investments, including the start of construction on the Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo passenger train and the opening of the National Customs Agency in Nuevo Laredo.
Additional progress has been made on projects such as a new international border crossing, the rehabilitation of the Ciudad Valles-Tampico highway, the modernization of irrigation districts 025 and 026, and the second line of the Guadalupe-Victoria mega-aqueduct.
