Tamaulipas wins Tourism Excellence Award at Fitur 2026

Tampico received the Tourism Excellence Award for the Tampico International Jazz Fest 2025 at the 2026 International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain, further solidifying the destination’s position as a global cultural and tourism leader.

On behalf of the Governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya, the Secretary of Tourism, Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, accepted the award. He was accompanied by the Municipal Director of Tourism, Karime Cámara Chain, representing the Mayor of Tampico, Mónica Villarreal Anaya.

“We are very happy that the eyes of the world are on Tamaulipas, thanks to the invaluable support of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, who has always championed tourism as an engine of economic growth, development, and well-being for Tamaulipas families,” said the Secretary of Tourism.

The official was also accompanied by the mayors of Tula, René Lara Cisneros, and González, Miguel Alejandro Zúñiga Rodríguez.

The Tampico International Jazz Fest 2025 took place from October 20 to 24. It offered free concerts by national and international artists to the public in the port city. It is worth noting that, due to its architectural similarities and the historical atmosphere of Tampico, Tamaulipas is considered the Mexican New Orleans.

Tamaulipas is present at the International Tourism Fair, where it showcases its history, crafts, gastronomy, customs, and tourist destinations.

At FITUR 2026, thousands of companies from 161 countries will gather, and more are expected to attend. of 250,000 professional visitors and the general public, who are learning about the tourist offerings of Mexico and Tamaulipas.
