A society awakens: a citizen saves a life and confronts violence

2

José de Jesús Santoyo Aguilar, an Uber driver in León, Guanajuato, never imagined that the morning of January 14th would end with him saving a life. While on his way to his first ride, he found a 13-year-old girl, in her school uniform, seriously injured and covered in blood, after being attacked with a knife on her way to middle school.
Seeing the severity of her neck and hand injuries, and given the ambulance’s delay, José decided to take her immediately to the Las Joyas Community Hospital, a decision that proved crucial in preventing her from bleeding to death.
During the journey, he spotted a man with bloodstains on his clothing; the girl, in a state of shock, was able to identify him as her attacker. The driver gave chase and alerted the police, leading to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator just a few meters from the scene of the attack.

This is the story of how this man not only saved a young girl but also brought her attacker to justice. A society that awakens, that is not indifferent, is the one that makes changes.
