Traffic camera fines have become a source of revenue for the state government, and so far in 2026, 10 million pesos have been collected from 12,000 violations, while in 2025, revenue exceeded 100 million pesos, reported the Finance Secretariat of the state of Querétaro.

Although speed cameras exist on various roads throughout the state, traffic camera fines are only issued on the Fray Junípero Serra Ring Road, where penalties are imposed for speeding, that is, when drivers exceed 100 kilometers per hour.

According to the agency, these actions are part of the Clicks for Life program, which was created with the goal of saving lives by encouraging citizens to reduce their speed while driving.

The Finance Secretariat announced that the penalties include two tiers of fines, depending on the speed recorded at the time of the infraction, with the aim of deterring risky behavior on the state’s roads.

In the first tier, when driving between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour, the corrective measure costs approximately one thousand pesos, according to the criteria established by the program.

In the second tier, when speeds exceed 100 kilometers per hour, the fine is doubled, meaning offenders must pay around two thousand pesos.

Finally, the agency reiterated that the Clicks for Life program’s focus is preventative and seeks to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of respecting speed limits, in order to reduce accidents and protect the safety of those traveling on Querétaro’s roads.

This program began on March 21, 2023, when photo-fines applied on the Fray Junípero Serra Ring Road were implemented with the intention of socializing the measure and issuing verbal or written warnings, sent to the offender’s address, through the program called Clicks of Life, reported Governor Mauricio Kuri González.
