With the goal of training a large number of people in aquatic rescue techniques and basic medical care, the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, along with the Civil Protection Coordination, is preparing its next lifeguard certification course for 2026.

This week, the SSP and the Mazatlán government launched the call for applications through their social media channels, announcing that the registration period will be from February 2nd to 23rd. Those interested should go to the Citizen Security Center to complete the registration process, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

With the only requirement being the ability to swim, lifeguards will take their evaluation exam on the 20th and 21st. The certification course, led by the Aquatic Rescue and Salvage Squadron, will take place from February 23rd to March 23rd, divided into four weeks of intensive training at various beaches in the port.

It was announced that the course will consist of four phases, covering physical conditioning, sea adaptation, freestyle swimming techniques, water rescue, water rescue with ENSAR (National Search and Rescue Service) and the Mexican Navy, basic emergency care, and a final simulation in which participants will be evaluated by rescue personnel.

In the invitation, the Commander of the Aquatic Rescue Squadron, Gustavo Espinoza, emphasized that these courses for new lifeguards allow them to strengthen their techniques and prevent accidents on beaches and in other aquatic areas within the municipality.
