Speed cameras on the Mexico-Puebla highway: Where are they located and how much is the fine?

2

The Puebla State Government installed four traffic monitoring cameras on both sides of the Mexico-Puebla highway to penalize drivers who exceed the speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour.

Two cameras were placed on the Puebla-bound side and two on the Mexico City-bound side.

Where are the traffic monitoring cameras located?

  1. First camera: Located near the Hotel One, in the Finsa industrial park.
  2. Second camera: Located in front of the FAW truck dealership.
  3. Third camera: In front of Gate 4 of the Volkswagen plant.
  4. Fourth camera: In front of the NH Hotel.

A Multimedios Puebla news team confirmed that the cameras were mounted on the structure of the highway’s second level and are protected with metal fencing and barbed wire to prevent vandalism.

As part of the mobility strategy, these cameras were installed to replace obsolete or stolen monitors, as some sections of the highway are currently without cameras.

According to the Ministry of Mobility and Transportation (SMT), there are a total of eight speed cameras operating on the Mexico-Puebla highway.

On the upper level of this highway, only one camera was installed, where the speed limit is 110 km/h, with the goal of reducing traffic accidents involving cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

It’s worth noting that the speed camera program began in May 2025, after the company Autotraffic won the bid to operate the traffic monitoring system, resulting in the installation of a total of 80 cameras at various points throughout the state.

Other locations equipped with this photo-enforcement system include:

Atlixcáyotl Highway
Puebla-Amozoc Boulevard
Huejotzingo-Cholula Boulevard
Ecological Ring Road
Cholula Straight Road
Puebla Child Boulevard

What is the penalty for speeding?

Penalties for speeding range from 469 pesos for the first offense to 2,346 pesos for repeat offenders with more than four speeding violations. On expressways such as the Ecological Ring Road and the Mexico-Puebla Highway, the maximum speed limit is 90 km/h.

With this expansion of electronic enforcement, authorities urge drivers to always respect traffic signs and the speed limits in each section of road.

Additionally, it is recommended to periodically consult the official record of violations on the portal fotoinfraccion.puebla.gob.mx, where you can reliably verify the status of any possible sanction registered against your vehicle.
