Attention at the Child Development Centers in Baja California Sur saw a 27.21% increase in overall enrollment, reported Rosario del Carmen Salazar Estrada, head of the Early Childhood Education Department at the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

In the 2021-2022 school year, 1,753 children and infants were served; while in the 2024-2025 period, the number increased by 477, reaching a total of 2,230 children in Baja California Sur.

Regarding the non-formal education modality, it was detailed that, in the aforementioned periods, enrollment increased from 255 to 782 students, representing a growth of 246%.

This progress confirms that the actions aimed at expanding coverage are yielding results, with the support of parent groups. These figures place Baja California Sur above the national average.

Furthermore, the state ranks among the top 10 entities with the highest coverage at this educational level, a result of the combined efforts of the State Government and the Government of Mexico, through the National Policy for Early Childhood Education (PNEI).

Early childhood education—which encompasses the period from pregnancy to 2 years and 11 months of age—is part of basic education, is mandatory, constitutes a right of children, and represents a responsibility of the Mexican State, which must implement strategies to strengthen the development of young children. During the school year, a total of 2,230 children and infants were enrolled in Early Childhood Education in Baja California Sur.
