The Baja California Sur State Attorney General’s Office reported the arrest of Cristian Iván, alias “El Cholo 40.”

According to authorities, “El Cholo 40” is identified as the leader of a criminal group operating in Baja California Sur, linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Authorities in Baja California Sur confirmed the arrest of Cristian Iván, alias “El Cholo 40,” as a result of a security operation carried out in Ciudad Constitución.

The state attorney general’s office specified that “El Cholo 40” had an outstanding arrest warrant, accused of attempted homicide.

This is due to his alleged participation in an armed attack that occurred on August 19, 2025, in the town of Puerto San Carlos, in Comondú, Baja California Sur.

The investigation reportedly determined “El Cholo 40’s” involvement in the attack, which allowed authorities to locate him.

They indicated that Cristian Iván is identified as the main instigator of violence in Comondú, making him a priority target in terms of security.

Following his arrest, “El Cholo 40” was placed at the disposal of a judge, awaiting a decision on pretrial detention measures.
