Drivers urged to exercise extreme caution on the roads during the holiday weekend

During this long weekend commemorating the promulgation of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling on highways to avoid potentially fatal accidents.

In this regard, personnel from the Green Angels (Ángeles Verdes), who patrol various federal highways, stated that drivers should check the mechanical condition of their vehicles and ensure there are no malfunctions that could endanger themselves or their families as passengers.

They indicated that when they spot a vehicle stopped on the side of the road, they proceed to assist, checking for the problem, which could be a flat tire, running out of fuel, or a dead battery, among other possible issues.

They emphasized that although temperatures are generally cold to mild this winter, if a vehicle’s cooling system malfunctions, the engine will overheat, and if the vehicle is not stopped, the damage could be considerable and even render it unusable.

Above all, they warned against distractions while driving, such as using mobile devices, and against driving under the influence of alcohol.

Long lines are also expected at the international bridges, and drivers are advised to have their vehicles mechanically inspected and to respect other drivers to avoid potential conflicts.
