For the first time, Pátzcuaro will host a National Celebration of Traditional Cooks, bringing together the best of Mexican gastronomy. This event aims to highlight the value of those who preserve the country’s culture, flavors, and knowledge, as announced by traditional cook Isrrael Fuentes Cuiriz, who noted that the celebration will take place from February 13th to 15th in the Vasco de Quiroga Plaza.

“Imagine being able to taste rat broth, a tlayuda, grasshoppers, and charales all at the same time; all of this will be available thanks to the participation of the 18 states that have already confirmed their attendance,” he said in an interview.

The gastronomic event is the perfect excuse to enjoy the Love and Friendship weekend in this Magical Town, where, in addition to traditional cuisine, there will be artisanal beverages, talks, workshops, and even a calenda from Oaxaca and practices like bartering.

In addition to music and cultural events to set the mood for the event, which Fuentes Cuiriz says is unique of its kind,

traditional cooks from different regions of Michoacán will be present so that visitors can sample dishes prepared throughout the state.

The event was originally scheduled for November; however, due to logistical reasons, it was moved to February and is intended to be a major boost for tourism in the Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town).

The traditional cook, who is organizing the event, explained that there is every intention for the National Celebration of Traditional Cooks to become a permanent fixture, not only as a tourist attraction but also as a means of preserving Mexican gastronomy.
