The Tlaxcala Carnival is one of the state’s most important traditions, bringing together thousands of visitors to experience its music, vibrant colors, and folklore.

The Ministry of Public Education and the Ministry of Culture officially presented the program for 2026.

The Carnival strengthens community pride and social cohesion, consolidating itself as a tradition that unites municipalities and regions under a single cultural expression, commented Homero Meneses, Secretary of Public Education.

The activities will begin on February 6 with the election of the Carnival Queen and King of Fools. Then, on February 12, the Tlaxcala Carnival 2026 parade will take place, traveling through the main streets of the capital city, starting at 4:00 p.m., as the opening act of the festivities.

From February 13th to 17th, the Tlaxcala Fairgrounds will host the main carnival activities, featuring over 200 dance troupes. For the first time, these troupes will perform on five simultaneous stages, operating from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the Plaza del Huehue and the fairgrounds’ parking areas.

On February 17th, the Tlaxcala Carnival 2026 Children’s Parade will take place, winding through the Historic Center starting at 9:00 AM, with at least 40 children’s dance troupes participating.
