Playa La Ropa, Las Gatas, Playa Linda and La Isla de Ixtapa are known as the preferred destinations for tourism, but among locals they are known as places with high costs on their menu.

During vacation periods, Las Gatas beach is one of the most pointed out for the bad practice of asking for a minimum consumption, a situation that has mainly bothered locals and accepted by tourists.

The restaurateur, Roberto Bustos Olea, said that so far Profeco has not gone to any establishment derived from a complaint filed by tourists or locals, so he considered that the accusations circulating on social networks are unfounded.

The restaurateur said that it is important that the owners spend time socializing among tourists and locals that the costs are not the same as in the center, since taking supplies to these resorts is more expensive.

Despite the accusations on social networks, this media outlet found that the beach continues to register the presence of tourism in many of its restaurants with up to five tables with consumption.

Las Gatas Beach during the week

17 restaurants (closed 3 x break)

5 to 10 tables occupied x business

700 tourists per day

However, it was considered necessary to establish collective mechanisms to confront misinformation on social networks and strengthen communication with visitors, in order to prevent comments without legal support from continuing to affect the image of tourist destinations and the local restaurant sector.
