Alexandra Morales, president of the civil association Construyendo Miradas (Building Perspectives), lamented the recent transfemicide in Tabasco, which she noted was the first recorded in 2026.
Morales indicated that the case is currently being monitored by the organization Casa Muñeca Tiresias, while activists await progress in the investigation and the clarification of the facts.
The activist urged the approval of pending initiatives related to hate crimes, promoted since the previous three-year term, as well as other laws that guarantee the protection of the rights of trans people.
In this regard, she recalled that the Federal Chamber of Deputies recently issued a resolution addressed to the five states that have not yet legislated on Gender Identity Laws or modified their civil codes, warning that failing to do so constitutes a violation of the human rights of trans people.
Alexandra Morales emphasized that legislators have an obligation to guarantee the rights of the entire population, without discrimination, once they assume their positions of popular representation.
