Morena party congresswoman from Hidalgo draws criticism from feminists

The one who “raised quite a few eyebrows” in Hidalgo, we’re told, was federal deputy Astrit Viridiana Cornejo Gómez (Morena), after she posted on her social media: “Better to be pretty, single, and flirty than married, cuckolded, and stupid,” although she later said it was a joke. We’re told that activists and women’s groups criticized the message, stating that her expression denigrates the female gender and reinforces stereotypes that affect women, who face different types of violence every day that should be combated from the legislative sphere and not be the object of ridicule. But Ms. Cornejo seems to be completely unfazed by the criticism. How awful!

From Chiapas, we hear that the mayor of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Fabiola Ricci Diestel (Morena), took advantage of the 2026 International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain, to make a quick trip there and take pictures with almost everyone. Although Ms. Ricci tried to pretend she was “working,” we’re told she boasted about a photo with former Televisa correspondent Alberto Peláez, whom she mistook and described as “one of the most recognized voices in the sports world.” Even though she later corrected the post, some reminded her that the idea was to speak well of the municipality, not to display ignorance. Ouch!

The one who “doesn’t even want to mention his name,” we’re told, is the governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos Galván (PAN), regarding her predecessor, Senator Javier Corral Jurado, now a member of Morena. We’re told that after it was announced she would be meeting with the Attorney General of the Republic, Ernestina Godoy Ramos, to discuss various topics, reporters asked Ms. Maru if they would be talking about the legal proceedings against Mr. Javier. She simply replied that “it would be a waste of time with the Attorney General,” and she kept her word, because at the end of the meeting, it was indeed revealed that the embezzlement charges and other lawsuits against the former governor were not discussed. Oops!
