Gunfire in downtown Monterrey, Nuevo León, sparks panic; at least 7 civilians reported injured

At least seven civilians have been injured in a shooting in downtown Monterrey, Nuevo León.

The gunfire was reported at 6:00 p.m. on Juárez Avenue at its intersection with Aramberri Street, in the commercial area known as Colegio Civil.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a group of young people firing weapons.

Seven civilians were struck by bullets while in the area.

Preliminary reports indicate that the injured include women and minors who were treated by paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross and subsequently transported to local hospitals.

The area remains under the protection of the Civil Force and the Monterrey Police.
