Influencer Juan Diego Maldonado Grijalva, better known as El Chabelo, was shot and killed Thursday night inside a business located in the Esquipulas neighborhood of Huixtla, in the Costa Grande region of Chiapas.
According to initial reports, two armed men arrived at the business and inquired about a tattoo-related job.
Moments later, one of them pulled out a firearm and shot the victim at least eight times, six times in the abdomen and twice in the forehead. He died at the scene.
In the attack, two other people, identified as Fide Castro Morales and Ligny Simey Pérez, 28 and 29 years old respectively, were also seriously wounded by gunfire.
After hearing the gunshots, neighbors alerted emergency services. Initially, members of the Municipal Civil Protection agency arrived at the scene and confirmed that the person had no vital signs. The injured were transported to a public hospital for immediate medical attention.
Subsequently, municipal police and State Guard officers arrived to cordon off the area and notify the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, personnel from the General Directorate of Forensic Services removed the body and transported it to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for the legally required autopsy.
To date, no arrests have been reported. The investigation is being handled by the Border District Attorney’s Office.
