More than a year after Mayor Mauricio Trejo assured that the forum would be rehabilitated, the Acoustic Shell remains in deterioration and without infrastructure.

San Miguel de Allende, Gto.- More than a year after the mayor of San Miguel, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, assured that the Acoustic Shell would be rehabilitated to be used again, the facilities of the forum are still abandoned and deteriorating. Despite the fact that the mayor of San Miguel de Allende assured that a concert would be held in the place this year, the site lacks infrastructure because, in recent years, it has been looted and vandalized.

At the beginning of 2025, Trejo Pureco reported that the space known as Foro San Carlos would be part of the Sports Forest project and even assured that its structure had been reinforced after presenting structural failures, so it was now a safe space that could already be used.

A year later, and questioned about when the people of San Miguel will be able to enjoy the site that originally received successful and multitudinous concerts, the mayor assured that it will be this year, although the venue is not in condition to receive any event.

” I believe that this year we are going to have our first concert there, it is part of one of the star sports projects of this six-year administration,” he said.

Almost nine years after its inauguration, for which an investment of more than 6 million pesos was required after the first administration (2012 – 2015) of Trejo Pureco abandoned the newly built enclosure, the space no longer has electrical installations, doors, stairs, or furniture in bathrooms, since even some floor slabs and manhole covers have been stolen; in addition, the walls are graffitied.

The forum represents a seagull in flight and is built on the edge of the San Carlos board, it has about 2 thousand seats that, in addition to the structure, are the only ones that have resisted the passage of time and abandonment, the space also had parking for general services and artists, electrical installation and scenic lighting in corridors, basement, dressing rooms and equipped bathrooms, as well as a slope that years ago was covered with grass so that spectators could enjoy the shows from there.

Although Mauricio Trejo assured several years ago that the work had structural damage, it was never known that work was being carried out for its recovery, however, in January 2025 he pointed out that the enclosure had already been reinforced and was safe, although the Municipal Police who carry out patrols in the place prevent the passage to the forum claiming that it has damage and represents a risk.
