The tourist destinations of La Paz and Todos Santos reaffirmed their national standing with the inclusion of several of their restaurants in the 2026 Mexico Gastronomic Guide, one of the country’s most influential publications.
“This recognition confirms the destination’s growth as a gastronomic benchmark, in a context where travelers seek authentic, memorable experiences with local identity,” highlighted Luz María Zepeda, director of the La Paz Tourism Trust (Fitupaz).
The guide recognizes restaurants that interpret the Baja California Sur environment through the use of local products, contemporary techniques, and a vision committed to regional identity, explained the official.
The recognized projects are: Casamarte, by chef Héctor Palacios; Nemi and Quemadero, by chef Alex Villagómez, in La Paz; as well as DUM, by chef Aurélien Legeay, and Jazmango, by chef Javier Plascencia, in Todos Santos.
“Today, gastronomy has become one of the main motivations for travel. In Baja California Sur, cuisine represents a way to connect with our sea, with local producers, and with a culture that expresses itself through its flavors,” said Luz Zepeda.
She also indicated that the presence of these restaurants reflects the diversity and maturity of the local cuisine, the respect for seasonal ingredients, the creativity, and the connection with the natural environment.
This recognition consolidates La Paz as a growing gastronomic destination, where cuisine drives tourism, cultural, and economic development, strengthens the state’s commitment to sustainability, quality, and the construction of its own culinary identity.
