An attempted kidnapping in Tlaxcala put the safety of influencer and gamer Ikonic, known on social media as “Ikonic Gamer,” at risk. On Tuesday night, Edwin N was attacked by at least six armed men who stormed his business, located on Prolongación Porfirio Díaz Street in downtown Tlaxcala.
Ikonic was serving a customer when the assailants, dressed in black, entered the establishment and began beating him. The victim’s partner tried to intervene but was pushed aside by the men. During the struggle, the attackers managed to drag Ikonic Gamer out of the establishment, but were unable to force him into their vehicle. The assailants fled in a white pickup truck.
The incident is believed to be a targeted attack against Ikonic. It is suspected that it may be related to an extortion ring, given that the content creator had reportedly received prior threats through his social media accounts. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) has taken cognizance of the case and opened the corresponding investigation to clarify the facts and determine if an extortion ring targeting local businesses exists.
Municipal and State Police officers were deployed to the scene and launched an operation to locate the white SUV used by the attackers, but so far, they have been unsuccessful. Authorities reiterated that the case is under investigation and that they are reviewing security camera footage and witness statements to identify those responsible for the attempted kidnapping of influencer Ikonic.
