Uber announced the addition of taxis to its platform in the municipalities of Querétaro and San Juan del Río, allowing drivers to accept rides and reduce their downtime.
The implementation of this new product began on Thursday, February 12, and users could now choose to travel by taxi within the app.
They explained that this brings the total number of products offered to users in Querétaro to 12, and provides taxi drivers with another way to generate income.
Using an authorized taxi at the bus station is a luxury.
“This product will be a great benefit for the residents of Querétaro and San Juan del Río. Taxi drivers will be able to supplement their income with Uber, and users will wait even less for a ride,” said Mauricio Iturralde, Director of Operations for Uber Mexico.
With this new product, the company believes taxi drivers will save fuel and time, since they can accept rides through the app when they don’t have passengers, helping them reduce downtime between trips.
Interested drivers can access the UberDriver app and follow the registration steps. Afterward, they will have access to all of Uber’s technological solutions.
“At Uber, our goal is to help Querétaro and San Juan del Río achieve more efficient mobility. And what better way to do so than by inviting such an important sector as the taxi industry to help make this a reality,” stated Mauricio Iturralde, Director of Operations for Uber Mexico.
Users were reminded that Uber Taxi will have the same safety features as other Uber products, including a PIN code used by both the rider and driver to confirm the trip.
