What began as a festive equestrian event ended in violence and tragedy in Macuspana. The so-called Valentine’s Day parade devolved into a fight between women inside the town’s rodeo arena and, hours later, into a fatal accident that left two people dead.
During the event, several women were involved in an altercation that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media. The footage shows punches, hair-pulling, and even the use of a belt as a weapon, all in front of families and children.
The confrontation occurred during the equestrian activities, and according to attendees, the situation spiraled out of control in a matter of minutes. The video shows the women exchanging words before the fight escalated rapidly.
Beyond the altercation, the day also saw other incidents related to excessive alcohol consumption. From early morning, participants consumed alcoholic beverages in public as the procession moved forward, accompanied by municipal security personnel who were guarding the route.
During the night and early morning, horse falls, traffic accidents, and fights were reported in various parts of the municipality.
In the early hours of Sunday, February 15, around 5:00 a.m., two men traveling on a motorcycle died after crashing into a tree on the road connecting the town of Aquiles Serdán with the hamlet of Límbano Blandín, near the area known as El Chacté.
According to initial reports, the occupants apparently lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to leave the road and crash violently. Both died at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were from Villa Tepetitán. One of them was identified as Marco N; the identity of the second remains unconfirmed.
Municipal police officers cordoned off the area while awaiting ministerial authorities to carry out the corresponding procedures and the removal of the bodies, which were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service.
