A truck driver traveling on the Tepic-Mazatlán highway near the municipality of Escuinapa got a terrible scare after being attacked by armed men in an apparent attempted robbery.
The incident occurred at kilometer 190, in the municipality of Escuinapa, where, according to reports, armed men signaled for the driver to stop. When he failed to do so, they began shooting at the truck repeatedly.
Although the bullets penetrated the windshield and part of the body, the driver fortunately escaped unharmed.
According to the account, after the driver slowed down, one of the assailants climbed onto the truck and, after threatening him, forced the driver to hand over his cell phone and wallet before fleeing.
A few kilometers ahead, the driver stopped and asked fellow truckers and security authorities for help, reporting the situation after being shot at.
The truck’s windshield was riddled with over 20 bullet holes, shattering the glass and severely limiting the driver’s visibility.
