A foreign woman who had been reported missing in San Miguel de Allende was found dead near the Villa de Los Frailes housing development, the area where she was last seen on February 16 when she left her home.
After the disappearance of an elderly American woman, identified as Chris, began circulating on social media and an Amber Alert was issued, municipal authorities announced on Thursday that the woman had been found deceased.
According to the information released during the search, the 77-year-old woman had lived for several years in San Miguel de Allende, where she resided alone in a house in Villa de Los Frailes. She reportedly left her home on February 16 without anyone knowing where she was going.
The local government announced that, after receiving the report, search and rescue protocols were activated, and as a result of the search, the woman was found deceased in the lower part of the housing development, with no signs of violence.
“Preliminary reports indicate that the person had a prior diagnosis related to mental health disorders and depression. Furthermore, suicide notes and provisions for the care of her pets were found at her residence,” they stated in a press release.
