Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, recipient of the Latin Icon Award at the 2025 MTV VMAs—an honor celebrating his 40-year career—is returning to Mexico, and the city of Querétaro will kick off his Live Tour.
This mega-production promises a high-quality technical display, with a modern stage design, international-standard lighting and sound, as well as live musicians and dancers who, according to the promoter, “will make this performance an unforgettable spectacle for attendees.” The production will be completely different from his previous show, titled Sinfónico, which was also very well received by Mexican audiences.
Chío Díaz shared with La Jornada that she has been a fan of the artist since she was eight years old. She has attended several of his concerts and recounts, “When I lived in Mexico City, I went to several concerts at the National Auditorium, and I also attended his show when I lived in Madrid; I hope to be there now that he’s coming to Querétaro.”
She fondly recalls the cancellation of the concert in Querétaro after the Covid-19 pandemic was declared. “It affected me; I was already booked and we couldn’t go,” she commented.
Díaz indicated that, although she is a die-hard fan, she hasn’t had the opportunity to be near the Puerto Rican singer or exchange a few words with him. However, she hasn’t lost hope: “I hope that this time when he comes they’ll do a meet and greet so I can be with him.”
Since the concert was announced at the end of 2025, she bought her ticket and considers it the perfect setting to celebrate another year of life with her friends, who—although they don’t share her same fervor—”are supporting me because it’s going to be my birthday and I told them I wanted to go to the concert. There are about ten of us crazy girls. We all have our tickets secured so we can sing at the top of our lungs.”
For the start of the Live Tour, Díaz hopes “that he continues to surprise, because he always uses a lot of innovation and creativity; even if the song is the same, he looks for ways to modify it to appeal to new generations.” With caution, he added, “I prefer not to get my hopes up; I’ve worked hard on that. In the end, the man knows how to channel energy, he knows how to move on stage, and that’s why everyone always leaves happy.”
Díaz shared that, personally, the song “Vuelve” (Come Back) acquired a special meaning: “When I heard he had written it for his grandmother, when my own grandmother passed away, I put that song on to understand its meaning. Then you listen to songs and give them the meaning you want; knowing what was really going on when they were written changes everything. Every time I hear it, I think of my grandmother, just like he does.”
He noted that other songs evoke his teenage years and highlighted the one he performs with Chambao, which—he said—“has a rhythm that makes you want to dance.”
The Live Tour kicks off on March 12, 2026, at the Querétaro Racetrack, and according to the promoters, it is close to selling out.
The tour in Mexico will continue throughout March with two dates in Mexico City, on the 14th and 15th; Guadalajara, on the 18th; Monterrey, on the 20th; Chihuahua, on the 22nd; León, Guanajuato, on the 24th; and will conclude on the 28th in Mérida. In addition, performances are confirmed in Montevideo, Uruguay, on April 7th; Asunción, Paraguay, on April 10th; and Buenos Aires, Argentina, on April 18th.
