This Saturday, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that the body of Rubén Nemesio Oseguera, alias “El Mencho,” was released to his family after genetic testing confirmed his identity and following the completion of the corresponding legal protocols.

The FGR issued a statement, which was disseminated through the agency’s official social media accounts.

Around midday, two hearses left the FGR’s Federal Forensic Center; one of them, apparently, carrying the body.

Later, a hearse reportedly arrived at the J. García López funeral home in the Juárez neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough.

It should be noted that last Wednesday, authorities received a letter from someone claiming to be the legal representative of the family of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader, requesting the release of the remains.

Last Sunday, February 22, a joint operation by federal forces resulted in the death of Oseguera, an operation in which more than 40 members of the armed forces and dozens of other criminals were killed.

Following this, roadblocks and the burning of buildings and businesses broke out in practically every municipality in Jalisco, as well as several in Colima, Nayarit, Michoacán, the State of Mexico, and other states.
