It has been confirmed that the former deputy attorney general for high-impact crimes in Baja California Sur was traveling with his daughter when he was murdered; the minor is unharmed.

The former Deputy Attorney General for High-Impact Crimes in Baja California Sur, Bernardo Soriano Castro, was traveling with his minor daughter at the time of the armed attack in which he lost his life; however, the girl was unharmed, state authorities confirmed.

According to official information released this Thursday, it was confirmed that the minor is safe and sound, after traveling with him when he was shot.

The State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) also indicated that the Jeep Wrangler he was traveling in was secured at the scene, and it had multiple bullet holes.

Spent 7.62 x 39 mm shell casings were also found and taken to forensic laboratories for analysis.

The official autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple organ damage caused by a gunshot wound.

The institution stated that investigations are ongoing to clarify the facts.

However, as of noon today, the Baja California Sur Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) has not reported any arrests or progress on possible lines of investigation.

Business chambers in Baja California Sur issued statements following the murder of former Deputy Attorney General for High-Impact Crimes, Bernardo Soriano Castro. They demanded a transparent investigation from the authorities and called for an end to the normalization of violence in the state.

The National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco) La Paz expressed its “deep dismay” at the murder and offered its condolences to the family of the former official.

In its statement, the organization reiterated its rejection of any act of violence and emphasized that security, legal certainty, and trust in institutions “are pillars for social peace and the economic development of the state.”

“We call on the competent authorities to investigate this case with complete transparency, diligence, and adherence to the law, and to determine responsibility,” he stated.

For its part, the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) Baja California Sur lamented the death of the former deputy attorney general and described the events as “deeply concerning and an affront to the people of Baja California Sur.”

“Violence must not be normalized nor go unpunished,” they emphasized, while also requesting an investigation to fully clarify what happened and guarantee the application of the law.

Both organizations agreed that strengthening the rule of law and security are essential conditions for social stability and the economic development of the state.

The Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS) also sent its condolences and noted that Soriano Castro was a graduate of the institution, having completed both undergraduate and graduate programs. Likewise, the Search Collective for Peace joined in condemning the murder, demanded an investigation, and sent condolences to family and colleagues.
