Take note! Mexico City Metro workers have confirmed an upcoming protest as part of their demands.
The National Union of Workers of the Collective Transportation System released a statement this Friday, February 27, 2028, calling for the protest.
In a letter addressed to the Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, the Metro workers’ union expressed their concerns regarding the service.
They voiced their concern about the condition of the Metro’s facilities and trains, which they described as being “in complete disrepair.”
The union explained that this is due to a lack of maintenance resulting from insufficient funds to purchase materials and supplies.
They explained that the workers decided to take to the streets to inform the public about these needs.
While they acknowledged having met with the Secretary of Finance, Juan Pablo de Botton Falcón, to explain the situation, they have received no response to their demands.
Today they announced that on March 3, 2026, workers will stage a work stoppage in all technical and operational areas of the Mexico City Metro system.
This action is intended to guarantee the safety of passengers who use the Mexico City Metro daily and to defend the labor rights of its workers.
