Baja California will boost romance, health, religious, and real estate tourism to solidify Tijuana, “the most visited city in the world,” as a modern and attractive destination, stated Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, the state’s Secretary of Tourism.
The initiative, framed within Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s work plan, seeks to strengthen alliances with hotels, associations, and business owners in the sector through the implementation of joint projects, the Secretary explained.
Promoting new tourism experiences and strengthening a strategic agenda will generate employment, social well-being, and economic growth in the region, he added.
During the presentation of the 2026-2027 Work Plan to the Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee, Badiola Montaño highlighted the action areas and cross-cutting themes of specialized tourism, designed to diversify the tourism offerings and create unique experiences for visitors.
The plan includes, among other actions, connecting students to the Tianguis Turístico México (Mexico Tourism Fair), fostering their professional development and innovation within the sector. Priority programs and projects will also be implemented to strengthen the destination’s competitiveness.
By expanding Tijuana’s reach with specific strategies for each type of tourism, the city’s presence will be strengthened both nationally and internationally, the state’s tourism director emphasized.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of Tourism, Martha Inés Domínguez Uscanga; the president of the Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee, Karim Chalita Rodríguez; and the president of the Northwest Hotel Association, Antonio Rico Casillas, among other dignitaries.
