Rabies vaccination efforts are being reinforced in San Cristóbal

More than 170 dogs and cats were vaccinated during the rabies vaccination booster campaign held in neighborhoods and communities throughout the city, as part of preventative measures to avoid rabies cases this season.

The campaign was organized by the Zoonosis Department of Health Jurisdiction II, based in San Cristóbal, and offered free services in the Once Cuartos neighborhood and at the CAIEP facilities, located behind the National Guard detachment.

The department head, Néstor Ruiz Flores, explained that these campaigns are intensified before the hot season because rabies is a viral disease preventable through vaccination, but fatal once symptoms appear.

He noted that immunization not only protects pets but also the general population by reducing the risk of virus transmission.

Finally, health authorities urged residents to have their pets vaccinated and keep their vaccination schedules up to date to avoid incidents that could endanger public health.
