Tomorrow, Sunday, March 8, is International Women’s Day, a date that is expected to include several demonstrations, such as the march planned in Mexico City (CDMX), about which the United States has issued an alert.

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico alerted American citizens in the country about potential acts of vandalism and violence during the March 8 march to the Zócalo in Mexico City, held in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

The embassy also warned its citizens about a march planned for this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the embassy’s Polanco location, protesting U.S. military action in Iran.

The embassy explained that “disruptions” are expected throughout Mexico City on Sunday, with marches departing from the Glorieta de las Mujeres (Women’s Roundabout), the Monument to the Revolution, the Diana the Huntress Roundabout, and the Angel of Independence.

In case of emergency, the U.S. Embassy asked that people call 911.

In anticipation of the demonstration on Sunday, March 8, hotels, restaurants, plazas, and museums along Paseo de la Reforma and Avenida Juárez have erected metal barriers and wooden boards to cover windows and prevent damage.

Along Avenida Juárez, several establishments in the area have been protected with metal barricades to safeguard their facades, including the Sonora Grill restaurant, the Barceló México Reforma Hotel, and the Hilton Hotel, erected by personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security.
