Scandal at the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC CDMX) involving officers: Police were caught tampering with a crime scene on the border of Azcapotzalco and Nacualpan, in the State of Mexico, after the bodies of two men shot to death were found inside a taxi in the Ahuizotla neighborhood.
The incident occurred on Gobernador Salvador Sánchez Street between Thursday night and Friday morning. Residents alerted authorities after hearing gunshots, and the two victims were later found dead in the taxi.
However, after a mobilization of Mexico City and state police units, an irregularity was confirmed: the car had been moved from its original position.
The video that exposed Mexico City police officers moving two bodies
The General Directorate of Internal Affairs of the SSC (Mexico City Police) detected that officers assigned to the Azcapotzalco sector actively participated in the discovery of the bodies, but instead of preserving the scene, they decided to push the taxi into the State of Mexico.
The recording captured the moment the officers moved the vehicle a few meters to cross the administrative border, leaving it on the Naucalpan de Juárez side.
It is speculated that this maneuver was intended to prevent the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office from taking charge of the investigation, transferring legal responsibility to the State of Mexico.
Given the seriousness of the evidence, the area had to be secured by members of the Mexican Army and the National Guard to allow the legal procedures to be carried out properly.
SSC CDMX confirms the dismissal of the officers and opens an investigation
The institutional reaction was immediate after the images were released. The Mexico City Police Department (SSC) itself acknowledged that its officers violated the institution’s codes and regulations by participating in the discovery and subsequent tampering with the vehicle. Therefore, the following measures have been taken:
Administrative investigation: An internal file has been opened to sanction the conduct of those involved.
Notification to the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ): The Attorney General’s Office is already investigating both the double homicide and the crime of altering the crime scene.
Immediate dismissals: The police officers directly involved, as well as their supervisors, have been relieved of their duties while responsibilities are determined.
Meanwhile, authorities in the State of Mexico and Mexico City are working together to find those responsible for the armed attack against the two men in the taxi.
