On Saturday night, the mayor of Guadalajara, Verónica Delgadillo, participated in the “Bien de Noche” Festival, which includes the Vía RecreActiva Nocturna (Nighttime Recreational Route), held every first Saturday of the month. This edition of “Bien de Noche” welcomed the arrival of spring.
Verónica Delgadillo toured the Vía RecreActiva Nocturna, as well as strolling along Paseo Alcalde and enjoying the cultural activities at the various stations and churches, such as concerts and video mapping.
The mayor noted that this festival aims to revitalize nightlife in the Historic Center, in addition to promoting activities that foster community building.
“Together with the Guadalajara government team, we are working to continue revitalizing nightlife and bringing more life to the city. We hope this will help build community in the Historic Center, because the Center is the place that brings us all together,” said the mayor.
This year’s event featured a heritage bike ride designed to explore and appreciate the architectural and urban heritage of downtown Guadalajara from a unique perspective. The ride began at the Glorieta de la Normal roundabout and ended at the “El Palomar” sculpture.
The traditional astronomy night was also held, where attendees could view the moon, planets, and other celestial bodies through telescopes set up in the Dos Templos area.
Vero Delgadillo invited people to visit downtown Guadalajara and experience “Bien de Noche,” a festival held on the first Saturday of each month with a different theme.
The mayor added that through activities such as large-scale dance classes and free concerts, the festival aims to foster community, an important foundation for a culture of peace.
“What we’re aiming for here is for everyone to find a reason to come and spend some quality time in the Historic Center; you can come on foot, you can come with your pet, you can come with your loved ones, and you can also come to eat or simply enjoy the offerings of this great festival.”
The cultural program included choral concerts and vocal ensembles at the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, the Church of Saint Joseph of Grace, the Church of Saint Teresa, the Church of Our Lady of Aranzazu, and the Guadalajara Cathedral, where a videomapping projection was also presented.
At other locations in the Historic Center, such as Plaza de la Liberación and Reforma Garden, Latin dance classes and an open-air movie screening were held.
Bien de Noche is part of a coordinated plan between the public and private sectors to stimulate economic activity in the Historic Center by extending business hours and creating accessible cultural programming, encouraging families, visitors, and consumers to enjoy the city’s main square.
