Members of the Feminism for All MX collective stated at a press conference that the young woman who was attacked is one of the cases they are supporting through feminist organizations, and affirmed that many women who are victims of violence refrain from reporting it due to fear or social pressure.

During their public statement, the activists indicated that the alleged aggressor had harassed women and girls since the beginning of the demonstration, taking photographs without consent in various groups, even in areas where minors were present.

Likewise, in a statement, the Network of Collectives and Women Organized for an Anti-Patriarchal Feminist Front in Querétaro (Red FEMAQ) condemned the attack and stated that violence against a teenager participating in a protest constitutes a serious matter.

The organizations reiterated that feminist demonstrations are part of the exercise of rights such as freedom of expression, assembly, and protest, recognized in the Mexican Constitution and international human rights treaties.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred at the water tank located in the Alameda Hidalgo area, when members of the so-called “black bloc” asked photographers and other bystanders to refrain from taking pictures.

Most complied with the request; however, one man continued taking photographs, which led to a scuffle when some protesters tried to take his camera away. During the altercation, the man kicked a 16-year-old girl. The videos went viral on social media.

Following the dissemination of the incident, the band Nómada Live Music issued a public statement distancing itself from the conduct of a member allegedly involved in the events.

The group stated that each member is responsible for their actions as a citizen and reiterated its rejection of any form of violence.
