Uber Eats announced Tuesday the addition of supermarkets and stores to its platform in Nuevo Laredo, expanding user access to a wider variety of products and strengthening the local digital economy.
The service now offers nearly 3,000 items, including medicine, flowers, groceries, alcohol, and even complete grocery orders, with prices tailored to different budgets. This expansion aims to make life easier for users by allowing them to purchase almost any item through the app.
David Mínguez, communications manager for Uber Mexico, explained that the move not only benefits consumers but also generates new economic opportunities:
“At Uber Eats, we reaffirm our commitment to the development and growth of Nuevo Laredo. This model allows delivery drivers to enter businesses, select products, make purchases, and deliver orders to users, all while earning a living.”
The model offers flexible work options for seniors, parents, students, repatriated individuals, and migrants with work permits, allowing them to generate weekly income while adapting to their schedules.
Furthermore, the arrival of supermarkets and stores facilitates the integration of local businesses, such as flower shops, pharmacies, wine shops, and specialty food stores, into the digital economy, increasing their reach. According to data from CONCANACO (National Confederation of Chambers of Commerce), digitized SMEs can grow up to 20% more than those that are not.
Uber Eats has more than 60,000 registered restaurants and businesses nationwide. In Nuevo Laredo, during 2025, the most ordered foods were pizza, hamburgers, and coffee, with the highest demand on Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
