The Mexico City Ministry of Mobility (SEMOVI) announced the Spring Night Bike Ride, one of the most anticipated activities for residents of the capital, promoting sustainable mobility, cycling, and the reclaiming of public space.

The ride will take place next Saturday, March 28, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., as part of the “Move by Bike” program, an initiative that seeks to encourage healthy habits and environmentally friendly transportation alternatives.

The route will cover 22 kilometers, passing through some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, such as Chapultepec Park, Paseo de la Reforma, and the Historic Center, starting at the Fuente de Petróleos (Petroleum Fountain) and ending at the Zócalo (Plaza Tlaxcoaque).

One of the main features of the Night Bike Ride is its inclusive nature. Authorities announced that the route can be completed not only by bicycle, but also by roller skates, skateboard, or even on foot, thus broadening participation to include diverse sectors of the population.

In addition, the Youth Institute (INJUVE) will offer free bicycle rentals upon presentation of an official ID, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

As part of the festive atmosphere, cultural and musical activities will be held, including performances at the Glorieta del Ahuehuete roundabout on Paseo de la Reforma, reinforcing the recreational nature of the event.

To ensure access to the event, the Integrated Mobility Network will implement special measures. Bicycles will be allowed on the Metro, Metrobús, and Light Rail starting at 5:00 p.m., while on the Cablebús they will be permitted all day. Access on RTP buses and trolleybuses will be subject to availability.

These actions aim to facilitate citizen participation and promote the use of public transportation systems combined with non-motorized means of transport.

Organizing these types of activities is part of the Mexico City government’s strategy to strengthen sustainable mobility, reduce polluting emissions, and improve the quality of life for its residents.

The Ministry of Mobility (SEMOVI) highlighted that the “Move by Bike” program has become a well-established public policy that promotes the use of bicycles as an alternative means of transportation, while also fostering social interaction and the efficient use of urban space.

In this sense, the Spring Night Ride not only represents a recreational option but also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of building cleaner, safer, and more accessible cities.

With this event, Mexico City reaffirms its commitment to creating spaces where citizens can safely reclaim the streets, promoting healthy lifestyles and a culture of responsible mobility.
