Roadwork on the Mexico-Pachuca Highway is once again impacting the mobility of thousands of commuters who use this route daily to travel between Hidalgo and the nation’s capital.

The Mexico-Pachuca highway is experiencing traffic disruptions this Tuesday due to ongoing infrastructure work at various points along the highway corridor that connects Hidalgo with Mexico City.

In recent months, the highway has undergone several maintenance projects, including resurfacing and regional mobility improvements, resulting in partial closures and lane reductions in different sections.

According to reports from motorists, traffic is affected near San Miguel Ayacalco, where roadwork is underway.

Heading towards Mexico City, the heavy traffic is causing a backlog of approximately 3 kilometers, while in the opposite direction, towards Pachuca, the backlog is about 1.5 kilometers long.

Near Zapotlán, the roadwork is causing moderate traffic and a backlog of approximately 1 kilometer.

The lane reduction forces drivers to significantly reduce their speed, so it is recommended to leave early, obey traffic signs, and allow extra travel time.

Although traffic is moving, users report slow progress and periods of intermittent traffic in the construction zone.

Traffic disruptions are not new for those who regularly use the Mexico-Pachuca highway. Over the past few months, various maintenance and rehabilitation projects have been carried out at different points along the highway.

Between May and June, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) carried out maintenance work as part of the federal highway conservation program, including pothole repair and resurfacing of the asphalt on the Tizayuca-Pachuca section.

In addition, the region has also experienced activity related to connectivity projects linked to the Mexico-Pachuca Train, a rail project that aims to improve mobility between Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, and the nation’s capital. Federal authorities report that there are currently multiple active construction sites and infrastructure projects at various points along the corridor.

In addition to this, there are partial closures and road improvements in areas near the AIFA (Felipe Ángeles International Airport) and the new mass transit projects underway in the northern part of the Valley of Mexico.

Recommendations for those traveling today

If you plan to travel between Pachuca and Mexico City in the next few hours, consider the following:

Leave with extra time.
Stay tuned to real-time traffic reports.
Respect speed limits in construction zones.
Avoid sudden merging maneuvers.
Follow the instructions of traffic personnel.

The main recommendation is to exercise extreme caution when passing through the San Miguel Ayacalco section, where work continues and is currently causing the greatest delays on the Mexico-Pachuca highway.
