Chaos in Bucerías: shopkeepers and taxi drivers denounce the takeover of public spaces

49

Residents and visitors have denounced the lack of security and order on the streets of Bucerias, a municipality in Bahía de Banderas, where vendors, taxi drivers, and street vendors have allegedly appropriated public spaces, creating difficulties for parking and normal traffic flow.

According to witnesses, some vendors reserve parking spaces even several blocks from their businesses, placing objects to prevent other drivers from using them, which significantly reduces availability for residents and tourists.

Citizens point out that the situation also involves taxi drivers who prevent others from parking near their stands, arguing that those spaces belong to them, further exacerbating the shortage of parking for motorists.

In addition, there are stalls set up on sidewalks, forcing pedestrians to walk in the street. Although the problem is not new, complainants say it is causing increasing frustration among workers, visitors, and parents picking up their children from school.
