The Government of the State of Chihuahua, through the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) and the State Energy Development Agency (AEDE), established the Chihuahua Green University Network to promote the energy transition.
These actions are being carried out in coordination with the Chihuahua Green platform, operated by the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex Chihuahua), through the signing of a memorandum of understanding with ten higher education institutions in the state.
The head of SIDE, Ulises Fernández, and the general director of AEDE, Luis Carlos Hernández Ayala, assumed coordination of this initiative, which is focused on the sustainable development of the state.
The Network is established as a mechanism between academia, the productive sector, and the government, in coordination with Chihuahua Green, to promote applied projects in the circular economy, clean energy, industrial symbiosis, and the training of specialized talent.
This activity is part of SIDE and AEDE’s strategy to position Chihuahua as a national leader in energy transition, with a collaborative model that promotes solutions impacting competitiveness and regional economic development.
The University Network will operate through six working groups in areas such as international collaboration, biogas, wind energy, green hydrogen, electromobility, and university talent. It also includes a space for analyzing trends and opportunities.
The event was attended by Víctor M. Gómez-Céspedes, team leader of Chihuahua Green, as well as representatives from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, the Chihuahua Institute of Technology, the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Chihuahua Campus, and La Salle University Chihuahua.
Also represented were the Center for Research in Advanced Materials; the Polytechnic University of Chihuahua, the University of the Valley of Mexico, Chihuahua Campus, the Technological University of Camargo, the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez, and the Technological Institute of Delicias.
