With the participation of more than 300 security and emergency personnel, the official launch of the 2026 Holy Week operation, “Tampico Takes Care of You,” was held. This operation aims to guarantee the safety and well-being of local residents and tourists arriving during the holiday period.

This deployment includes the participation of more than 30 institutions from all three levels of government, the armed forces, emergency services, and rescue groups, who will work in coordination at key tourist destinations, highway access points, recreational areas, and high-traffic zones.

The mayor of Tampico, Mónica Zacil Villarreal Anaya, led the official launch, accompanied by municipal authorities, representatives of the armed forces, Civil Protection, and security agencies.

During her remarks, the mayor emphasized that this operation reflects the institutional commitment to protecting both Tampico residents and visitors.

“We are very pleased because we have worked beforehand to ensure that visitors, as well as those of us who live here, have the best possible experience,” he said.

Villarreal Anaya mentioned that inter-agency coordination has been key to strengthening security during this period, in which the arrival of more than 500,000 tourists is expected, representing almost double the city’s usual population.

He also explained that there is a pre-established plan to address any potential risks.

“We have already carried out significant coordination work with all three levels of government and are attentive to the needs that will arise during this time,” he stated.

For his part, the director of Civil Protection in Tampico, José Antonio Marín Flores, stated that preventive and immediate response operations will be reinforced.

He indicated that approximately 80 operational units were initially deployed during the symbolic launch, although the number of personnel will increase as the holiday period progresses, with a strategic presence in different sectors of the municipality.

Subsequently, the authorities moved to the Fidel Velázquez boulevard, in front of the Laguna del Carpintero, where the starting flag was waved for the units, reaffirming the commitment to maintain Tampico as a safe tourist destination during Holy Week 2026.
