VIA INBIX: “I’m writing this with a lot of helplessness because what we experienced wasn’t fair or humane.
A few days ago, a relative of mine was stopped by the police in San Miguel de Allende while riding his motorcycle. He showed all his papers, he didn’t refuse at any point… but that didn’t matter. A female police officer put him in the patrol car and started beating him right there. She left him bleeding, almost breaking his nose.
The most outrageous thing is that when the doctor arrived to examine him, she mocked him and refused to treat him, as if what was happening was nothing.
But that wasn’t all… Right there, several of the detainees had their belongings searched, and they took their money, cards, and cell phones. Some were even asked for their PINs, and they were threatened with harm if they didn’t hand them over.
“Several people, out of fear, handed it over… and then realized their accounts had been emptied.
This isn’t an isolated incident; this is a serious abuse. It can’t be that those who are supposed to protect us are the same ones who beat us, humiliate us, and rob us.
One of them even heated up a knife and injured people. I demand that this not go unpunished. Today it was my family member… tomorrow it could be any of us.
If anyone else has experienced something similar, don’t stay silent. This is too much… and report it,” said a citizen.
